Museums & Gallery Month
Museums and Galleries Month is an national campaign promoting and celebrating the UK’s contemporary arts and heritage organisations, which takes place annually in May.
In 2008, I led the campaign's inaugural art programme, designed to encourage more museums to collaborate with contemporary artists and stimulate innovative and exciting new visual arts content in the heritage sector.
Partnering with engage (National Association for Gallery Education), I devised and delivered a series of practical training sessions for heritage professionals around the UK and produced a 'Working with Artists' tool kit filled with inspirational case studies and practical 'how to' guides on how to reanimate collections and attract new and diverse audiences to museums/heritage sites. The project also facilitated fresh connections between heritage professionals and contemporary art curators, educators and artists.
